This Laniakea supercluster spans over 500 million light-years! Laniakea in Hawaiian means “immeasurable heaven.”

“500 million light-years” is a distance that human brain cannot truly fathom. For sure, it’s… vast out there, but how much different in compare with a distance of 50 million light-years? 5 million light-years? Yet it’s only a fragment of the universe, our universe as we know it, our observable universe. The observable universe has the diameter of 93 billion light-years.
